Dog Friendly

Who looks after your pet dogs when you go away for a short break? Kennels or you in dog friendly hotels?

The Old Cider House, Nether Stowey, Somerset  is one of the most dog friendly bed and breakfast guesthouses in the UK (as voted by the Kennel Club - see the Open for Dogs site). It is so difficult to find a dog friendly hotel or B&B in Somerset stating dogs allowed rather than no dogs allowed! So, if you are looking for hotels that accept dogs – look no further.

Everything about The Old Cider House in the Quantock Hills is dog friendly. We have two designated pet friendly rooms (yes, pet cats can come too), one on the ground floor with dogs welcome at any time and a first floor double dog friendly room with pets allowed as long as they are well behaved and are used to staying in dog friendly hotels.

The Old Cider House is near a number of dog friendly beaches displaying dogs allowed signs, so your friendly dog companion can play on beaches accepting dogs to their hearts’ content. The Quantock Hills also have dogs welcome written all over them.

All the inns in Nether Stowey are dog friendly pubs and all serve real ale. The Quantock Hills hostelries are known for being dog friendly pubs as well and it is difficult to find a pub that does not allow dogs.

If you are staying in a dog friendly cottage in Cornwall or Devon, and looking for a dog friendly hotel on the way to break your journey, The Old Cider House is the pet friendly choice for you. Just off the M5 in the Quantocks and within easy reach of Devon and Cornwall’s pet friendly holiday cottage destinations.

Of course, travelling down to or from a dog friendly holiday cottage can be a nightmare on a summer Saturday (the M4 and M5 not being particularly pet friendly). Therefore why not come to the Quantocks a day early or leave a day later and miss the traffic by staying at a dog friendly destination.

We are also at the begining of the Coleridge Way, dog friendly along all of its 36 miles from Nether Stowey to Porlock.

Ozy, our resident Labrador, welcomes dogs with a friendly dog sniff and loves living in a Somerset pet friendly hotel. There are only a few simple rules when staying at The Old Cider House – the main things are that dogs must be well behaved (and not bark or whine when left for breakfast), must not get on the beds and owners must clear up after them. Up to two dogs are allowed in each dog friendly room and a £3.00 charge is made for dogs per night.

Dog guests are treated to a welcome dogs pack, including home made dog biscuits, a clean bowl and mat, information on dog friendly walks and everything to make dogs welcome here in the Quantock Hills.
