Samuel Taylor Coleridge lived in the village of Nether Stowey at the end of the eighteenth century and it was while he was in the Quantocks that he wrote two of his most famous poems – The Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Kubla Khan (Xanadu).

Coleridge Cottage, owned by the National Trust, is two minutes walk away where Samuel Coleridge lived for three years and has recently been refurbished by the National Trust to include a shop and tearoom.

This short break allows visitors to Nether Stowey to see Coleridge Cottage, visit some to the village inns he would have drunk and eaten in and also visit Holford Village where Coleridge visited his good friends Dorothy and William Wordsworth.
