22 Nov - FRENCH NIGHT

We are now recovering from our Beaujolais Nouveau night on Saturday here at The Old Cider House. Luckily we had ordered our wine in advance as Waitrose and Majestic Wine has sold out (in the UK) and we had a couple of the very few bottles available.

Our French meal went down a treat with a goats’ cheese and home grown walnut salad, country style pâté and granary bread, 36 hour marinated beef bourguignon, four – yes four – desserts and a selection of French cheeses.

The wine wasn’t too bad either and all those eating sat round our large dining room table until the early hours. The fun wine quiz was won by our guest Lynne – who obviously knew her alcohol!

The Old Cider House won a host of prizes at the Nether Stowey village show. The bed and breakfast, in the heart of Nether Stowey, won first prize for its bread and a host of runners up prizes for cake making and fresh garden produce.
