Welcome to 4ale.co.uk – breaks for the real ale enthusiast.
We are based in West Somerset, and run a licensed guesthouse, half-barrel brewery and walking holiday company – all designed around the enjoyment of real ale.
Next year we are running three distinct breaks:
Real Ale Walks
These 3 day/2 night breaks are a dream come true for the country walker and village pub lover. On the Friday night we start with a short stroll followed by beer tasting and dinner. Depending on the weekend we then spend the next 2 days walking the Quantocks in search of good pubs and fine ales.. A special ale is brewed for each break - available throughout the weekend. What’s included: D,B&B, lunches, guided walking, free beer and entertainment.
Price: From £175 per person for standard room (upgrade to a premium room for an extra £10 pp).

Brewery Workshops
Fun weekend (one Sun-Tues), hands-on breaks where participants learn how to brew a real ale for sale in the local pubs. The Weekend starts with a tutored beer tasting and dinner. On the Saturday we brew a beer from scratch – from boiling the water , mashing, hopping to the start of the fermentation process. On Saturday evening we all meet at the pub for dinner and a light-hearted quiz. After breakfast on Sunday we check that fermentation has started before departure.

What’s included: B&B, 2 dinners, tutored tasting, hands-on experience, entertainment, brewery tee-shirt

Gourmet Dinner Evenings
Enjoy an evening at The Old Cider House with a gourmet, beer inspired dinner. Each dish is made with beer (including the pudding) and an appropriate ale will accompany the courses. There are plenty of surprises during this relaxing evening and we even run a light-hearted quiz to keep the mind active between courses.
